Skype for Linux (RPM) repository, signature and checksum errors on the Skype site - UNABLE TO UPDATE SKYPE

I'm trying to install the latest SkypeForLinux update, and I'm first adding the Skype RPM repository, as follows. The repository at https://repo.skype.com/rpm/stable has a local issuer certificate error.

These are the instructions that I followed for OpenSuse Leap 42.2 zypper:

> sudo zypper ar -f https://repo.skype.com/rpm/stable skypeforlinux

Repository priorities are without effect. All enabled repositories share the same priority.

These are RPM repository errors , and checksum and signature errors for the downloaded RPM .

This has nothing to do with the packages already installed, the devices supported, or anything else external to Microsoft's own site and software.

These days, no one should be expected to ignore warnings about a valid software repository and package signatures and checksums. Now that Microsoft has forced everyone to install a update to Skype, it's Microsoft's responsibility to makes certain that the updates come from valid repositories and are properly signed, with the correct checksum.

Please fix this as soon as possible!

First download their GPG key

$ curl https://repo.skype.com/data/SKYPE-GPG-KEY > skype-gpg-key

#sudo rpm --import skype-gpg-key

#sudo zypper install skypeforlinux-64.rpm

This invalid repository will now break my Yast Software Updates and KDE Software Updates widget because of a continual Curl 60 error. The only simple way to fix this is to delete the Skype repository.

There is more about the Curl 60 error and installing a local certificate and modifying php.ini here, but the path given is just for Windows:
