How can I get the latest version of Skype for a 32 bit system. I'm running Ubuntu linux.

I know how important it is for you to download Skype on your Ubuntu Linux. Let me assist you with this.

To download Skype for Linux, your system must have:

• 64-bit Ubuntu 14.04+


• Processor: An Intel Pentium 4 processor or later that's SSE2 capable


• RAM: At least 512 MB


• Additional software: libappindicator1 or GtkStatusIcon to make the tray icon work (optional)

If your system can't be upgraded to 64-bit, apparently, you cannot download Skype. Otherwise, using a supported device is an option. Please let us know if you have questions.

Thank you for your answer. The version that I have currently installed in my computer is 4.3.0.37 on Ubuntu. I've a couple of questions.

1) Is it the latest 32 bit version?

2) This version will work normally for, let's say, one more year?

The latest version we have now is 5.3v. Can you please check if you can download it? By the way, you can always check our FAQ for updates if your device will still be supported in the future.

As what I have provided, the latest version we have now is 5.3v. It's for both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures.

Thank you for replying but I couldn't find a link for the 32-bit linux version. The link you have provided me " https://go.skype.com/linux.deb" is for 64-bit only.

You said the latest version you have now is 5.3v. It's for both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures.

Can you tell me where I can download the 5.3v. 32-bit version?

Recently I had to reinstall my LINUX on my 32-bit machine. The nice thing about LINUX "is" that it still runs on older hardware, and makes it scream with performance! SKYPE has always been an "all platform" sort of app, which makes it very popular.

Recently, when trying to find the 32-bit version to download, and not finding it, I consulted the community. Some ignorant idiot told a customer, who had posed the same question I was about to ask, that they just needed to upgrade their hardware.

Seriously, this is a Microsoft response, not a SKYPE response. Microsoft if all about beefing up the hardware to support the ever-growing beast of an operating system that has more and more requirements just to function normally. But LINUX has and always will be an operating system that works on just about everything, regardless of whether it's age. SKYPE should NOT take on the same mantra that Windows applications have, in requiring ever-increasing hardware and processor resources just so it can run the over-bloated sloppy programming style of their programmers.

I resent this rudely arrogant response .

I knew when Microsoft took over SKYPE that it would be it's downfall.
