Don't bother. It installs itself and then makes it virtually impossible to uninstall. This is spyware, malware, shitware all rolled into one.

DON'T TOUCH THIS PROGRAM - IT WILL NOT UNINSTALL FROM YOUR COMPUTER.

This little piece of software has so many good things I could brag on about it because I've used it for years. Nice clean recordings of Skype calls that're already converted to Mp3 format makes it a Podcaster's dream.

One time I even arranged a big family Group Conference Call on Skype, and I was able to record the whole thing. Considering that 2 of those family members have since passed away, that one recording has become a gem keepsake. I wouldn't have been able to do that 'with the ease I did' if I didn't have this MX Skype Recorder. That one recording alone made it worth the purchase.

Is it worth the money to buy it, I would say "Yes". However. (read my Cons below) .

The "Customer Service" of this company is so far below par I don't want to describe it because it would require language I don't use in my real day-to-day life, let alone publish it here on the Web.

So I submitted a Support Ticket, and they got back with me with a couple suggestions, but still to no avail. I contacted the Chat Support team and that guy said I'd need to purchase another activation code, which for the Professional http://www.skyperec.com/buy.html (the one I had) was going to cost me another $49.90. Absolutely absurd!

So, in summary of everything I mentioned above: Yes, the product is good, however, the UN-professionalism of this company's "Customer Service" almost offended me (don't worry, I shook it off)!

Also, not only do they advertise these exact words on their site in describing the version I'd purchased ["for life" and "unlimited"], they're totally and completely unwilling to work with a (already paid-for) customer to FIX my issue.

Was I happy in purchasing the original code the first time for my (understandably) ONE computer? Yes gladly, it's a quality product! However, do I want to pay for the same license AGAIN (at today's updated price) for this SAME computer? Emphatically the answer is: "NO, absolutely NOT!"

I can understand their rule (I copied/pasted this from their site): "A single license can be used on 1 PC only. In order to use our software on many PCs at the same time, you need to have as many licenses." because they don't want to sell one license to someone and that person share it with all their friends. That's completely understandable.

However, when I'm sure they can see in their records that it WAS me who DID buy the license years ago, and that I AM using it on this SAME computer (granted, it's been reformatted, but it's the SAME computer), just the fact that they showed no empathy, they were not willing to work with me, NO ANYTHING except that I need to pay another $49.90 again (in reality, pay for it twice) if I want to keep using it.

Over the years I've trained hundreds of Tech Support Agents (phone AND chat AND email) how to deal with not only solving whatever the tech issue was that the customer was contacting us about, but also, and even MORE IMPORTANTLY how to show good, ethical, quality 'Customer Service' while working with customer.

This company has none of these customer service skills, and even though I'd still like to be using their product, I uninstalled the software and deleted all the different versions of the install executable files off my computer.

If you're willing to purchase their product, please be aware that you're doing it with the understanding that their "After-the-Sale Customer Service" is so far below minimal par that I can't even apply a substantial percentage number to it. But, all in all it IS a very good product, nonetheless!

Easy to install, easy to use

Free license has limitations

Surely not a malware as it was mentioned before, nice prog to record your calls.

Does what it is supposed to do and nothing more. Files are named for the date and time of the call.

Doesn't allow user to specify drive/directory to which it should install. Price is $29.90 if you try to register -- TWICE what it is advertised as being on download.com. At that price, I'll keep shopping.

Could found nothing positive

Does not function well, poor sound, hard to deinstall, way too expensive for something you can get for free as well.

Easy download and installation.

Difficult to uninstall. Recorded sound quality was marginal.

MX Skype Recorder v.4.2 is easy to install, but difficult to get rid. There is no uninstall program, and the company claims that erasing .exe files is enough. Not true! This program changes registry content. It took me some time to find this out. Trial mode is difficult to uninstall and the company's problem resolution ticket system will not provide any help, unless the program is purchased.

Automatically or manually record Skype calls as mp3, wma, or wav and save them in a user specified folder, bit and sampling rates can be specified through settings dialog, Virtually no learning curve. very simple, inexpensive.

Throws occasional error codes (usually when adjusting settings) which (in my case) have no negative effect on recording, have sent a few messages to tech-support and never received a reply.

Aside from a few minor bugs, i.e.; error codes that seem to have no impact on the apps functionality. This is a good solution for archiving any or all of your Skype conversations. I like that the bit and sampling rates are user adjustable. Also has the ability to record both sides of conversation on same track (dual channel mono) OR can record sender on left channel and receiver on the right. Nice feature for editing or equalizing volume levels. Apparently the developer doesn't reply to tech-support requests. While this is cause for some concern, the software is very inexpensive and simple to use. If the trial version works for you, the registered should be fine as well.
